Alabama A&M's struggles against Arkansas-Pine Bluff continued Saturday as the Golden Lions defeated the Bulldogs for the 11th straight time in the series, 62-55. UAPB (7-14, 7-3 SWAC) opened the game with a 17-2 run, a lead the Bulldogs were never fully able to overcome. Alabama A&M (7-11, 4-6 SWAC) did cut the margin to three midway through the second half, but could get no closer as Pine Bluff pulled away down the stretch. Cornelius Hester's layup as time expired gave him 20 points for the night to lead A&M. Maurice Kemp added 10 points.

Box Score / The Alabama A&M womens basketball team was edged by Texas Southern, 56-55, on mon. Feb. 1 at Elmore Gym. The Bulldogs were led by whiquitta tobar's team-high 18 points. Katrich williams had 16 points and three boards in 39 minutes of action. The Bulldogs are back in action on Feb. 6 when they travel to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff for a 5:30 pm tip.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 7-9 on the season and 4-4 in the conference. Cornelius Hester scored a team-high 14 points of 5-of-9 shooting from the field in 29 minutes of action. Jabari DeShields tallied 11 points off 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Bo Amusa chipped in with nine points, nine boards, and five swipes. A&M is back in action on Mon. Box Score / Katrich Williams scored a career-high 30 points as the Alabama A&M women’s basketball team defeated top ranked Prairie View, 68-62, at Elmore Gym Sat. Jan. 30, 2010. This marks the first win against the Panthers since the 2006-07 campaign. Whiquitta Tobar tallied 15 points, including a perfect 6-for-6 mark at the stripe in 29 minutes of action. With the win, A&M improves to 9-8 on the season and 5-3 in the SWAC. The Bulldogs are back in action on Mon. Feb. 1 when they host Texas Southern beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Alabama A&M men's and women's basketball teams will celebrate National Take a Kid to the Game Day on Saturday as the Bulldogs face Prairie View A&M at Elmore Gymnasium. The women's game tips at 4:00 p.m. with the men's to immediately follow, scheduled at 6:00 p.m. Take a Kid to the Game Day is an opportunity for kids to experience the excitement of NCAA basketball and enjoy several activities throughout the duration of the evening. There will be face painting, games, and all kids 12-under will be admitted to the game FREE.

Bo Amusa was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week announced the conference office on Tuesday. Amusa averaged 13.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in a pair of Bulldogs’ road victories over Southern and Alcorn State. The Grayson, Ga. native recorded his first double-double of the season in Saturday’s 70-63 win at Southern with 11 points and 14 rebounds in helping A&M to the first of its two road wins this season.

ALCORN STATE, Miss. - Box Score / Alabama A&M completed a two-game road sweep Monday with an 84-70 victory over Alcorn State. Casey Cantey scored 20 points off the A&M bench, and Bo Amusa continued his stellar play with 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds. The back-to-back conference road wins are the first since the end of the 2007-08 season when A&M finished the SWAC road season with three straight wins over Mississippi Valley State, Texas Southern, and Prairie View A&M. The 84 points on the road is the highest total since the opening SWAC road trip that same season at Grambling, when the Bulldogs posted a 94-61 win.

ALCORN STATE, Miss. - Box Score / Alabama A&M dug itself a huge first half hole Monday at Alcorn State and never recovered as the Braves handed the Bulldogs their second straight loss, 59-45. A&M committed 22 first half turnovers and scored just 16 points as Alcorn built a 29-16 halftime lead. The lead never slipped below double digits for the remainder of the game.
