Atlanta, Ga. - Sophomore Clarissa Moore was named to the Georgia Tech Courtyard Mariott Classic All-Tournament team this past weekend. The Bulldogs dropped games against UAB, Georgia Tech, and Indiana, however. A&M volleyball will look to capture its first win when it competes at the Jaguar Classic hosted by South Alabama next weekend.

2010 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE / The Alabama A&M volleyball team has its sights set on another Southwestern Athletic Conference title. The three-time defending champs return five players from last year's squad, and welcome eight newcomers who will hopefully make an immediate impact. The Bulldogs have a full schedule, and will face some stiff competition this season.

Head volleyball coach Nedra Brown was selected as chair of the SWAC Volleyball Coaches for the next two years. Brown will serve as the liaison between the conference and volleyball coaches - assisting in the coordination of meetings, conference calls, and agendas.

Senior Rose Corneille and sophomore Clarissa Moore has been selected to the COBRA Magazine All-Preseason Third Team. Corneille earned SWAC Defensive Player of the Year honors following last season, while Moore received Freshman of the Year accolades. COBRA Magazine's purpose is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging black girls to pursue the sport.

Head volleyball/softball coach Nedra Brown has been elected to receive the Alabama A&M University Award of Merit for 2010. The Merit Award is presented to a non-alumnus for a significant service to the university. Brown's nomination came from one of the local chapters, and she was selected from a pool of two other candidates by the Executive Committee. The award will be presented on Friday May 7 in the Ernest L. Knight Center at noon.

Head volleyball/softball coach Nedra Brown has been selected to participate in the 2010 NCAA Women Coaches Academy being held June 10-14th in Atlanta, Ga.  The academy is designed to give coaches the opportunity to understand their expanding role as a coach, along with perspectives and skills to help them make the most of their situation. In the company and understanding of other coaches, they will have the opportunity to talk and listen with others to gain support and learn new tools and strategies.

Former Alabama A&M volleyball standout, Al'lisa Hale has been named head volleyball coach at Xavier University of New Orleans. Hale, who was known as Kneckie Stallsworth when she played for the Bulldogs and was a two-time all-SWAC selection, graduated from Alabama A&M in 2005 and has spent the past three seasons as the assistant volleyball coach at Alabama State.  Xavier began a volleyball program in 2003, but suspended it after two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The Gold Nuggets, a member of the NAIA and Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, will resume competition this fall.

Madinah Abdullah, Natalie Rodriguez, and Clarissa Moore were named to the first ever COBRA Magazine All-National Team. Abdullah and Rodriguez were second team selections, while Moore received third team accolades. COBRA Magazine is an internet volleyball publication that is read in 10 different nations including, Slovakia, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey and Czech Republic.
