Bulldogs Ink 25 Football Newcomers and Six Tranfers on National Signing Day

NORMAL -- Alabama A&M head football coach Anthony Jones said Wednesday he is pleased at the recruiting expectations that he and his staff met in the signing of 30 future Bulldog football student-athletes to NCAA National Letters of Intent.

"We set out to meet some very specific goals for our team,"he said."Those goals that we knew we could meet on signing day, we have accomplished."

On the offensive side of the ball, the Bulldog coaching staff focused its needs on size, speed, and depth throughout the unit. The Bulldogs signed two running backs, two quarterbacks, one fullback, a wide receiver, and eight offensive linemen.

Defensively, the Bulldogs set out to add size and depth both at linebacker and in the secondary.  Jones also identified a need for more speed in the defensive backfield at the cover positions.  In this recruiting class, the Bulldogs have signed three defensive linemen, three linebackers, and eight defensive backs.

On special teams, the Bulldogs have signed a kicker to provide more depth at the position.

The 2011 recruiting class includes three Huntsville area student-athletes with one each from Grissom, Buckhorn, and J.O. Johnson High Schools.
