Alabama A&M head softball coach Nedra Brown announced she has signed four players for the 2009-10 season. Melanie Menchaca, Allegra Stanton, Jasmine Riley, and Diamond Rangel have all signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Bulldogs next season.
Brown adds a duo of pitchers who are expected to make an immediate impact to the program. Brown calls Menchaca a big hitter and strong pitcher that can help offensively and defensively. The San Antonio, Tex. native has played on numerous travel teams and will bring her knowledge and experience to the team. The second pitcher, Stanton, is a native from Atlanta, Ga. Brown says she has good movement and will probably utilize her as a closing pitcher.
Riley and Rangel both play the catcher position and will add depth to the roster. Riley is from Ellenwood, Ga. who Brown sums up as a "big bad big arm." Rangel is a San Antonio, Tex. native that Brown forsees making an immediate impact. She is a versatile player with great speed and can cover any position in the middle infield.
