Box Score / The Alabama A&M men's basketball team saw its win streak come to a halt tonight as Texas Southern took one at Elmore, 67-62. Casey Cantey led the team with 19 points off 4-of-8 shooting from the field. Cornelius Hester finished with 18 points and eight boards in 33 minutes of action. Maurice Kemp tallied 11 points, including a 6-for-6 mark from the charity stripe. A&M is back in action when it faces Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Feb. 6 beginning at 7 p.m.
In the second half, the Bulldogs took a five point advantage, 33-28, at the 16:36 mark off a pair by Adam Young. A trey by Hester at 7:53 gave A&M its widest margin of the game, 51-41. The Tigers responded with six unanswered over two-plus minutes to cut the spread to 51-47. A pair at the line by TSU's Deandre Hall tied it up at 57-57, and a tip in by Jones on the following possession with 47 seconds remaining gave the Tigers their first lead since the 17:55 mark. A&M did not have an answer as Texas Southern walked away with the 67-62 victory.
For TSU, Hall tallied a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Travele Jones and Aaron Clayborn finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
A&M is back in action on Sat. Feb. 6 at Arkansas-Pine Bluff beginning at 7:30 p.m.
