The Alabama A&M softball team is excited about its 2010 season. Head Coach Nedra Brown says the composition of the team is much different from last year. The Bulldog roster is comprised of five freshman, four sophomores, one junior, and just two seniors. “With the new additions to the team, I think we will have a much better season,” said Brown. “We will definitely have some freshman that will come in and make a substantial difference.”
The team is getting off to a slow start, as several cancellations have prolonged play. A&M was scheduled to open at the Tiny Laster HBCU Classic last weekend in Conyers, Ga., but the tournament was cancelled because of poor weather conditions. “Everybody is anxious and ready to play,” said Brown. “Due to snow, and a frozen field, we are unable to get things going.” The Bulldogs are using the extra practice time to prepare for its upcoming double-header against Austin Peay on Feb. 24.
