Nashville, Tenn. - Jasmin Riley and Melanie Menchaca were named to the Tiger Spring Classic All-Tournament Team as A&M softball took four losses on the weekend. The Bulldogs dropped games to Indiana State 10-5, Valparaiso 11-1, and Tennessee State 3-1 and 8-0. A&M drops to 2-6 on the season. The team is back in action on Tues. March 2 at Belmont for a double-header. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
Game 1 - Tenn. State 3, AAMU 1
Alabama A&M scored its only run of the game in the fourth when Riley rounded the bases to score off a
Corissa Deadwyler's double. Riley had two hits, while Dymond Rangel went 2-for-4 at the plate. Hali Buie took the loss on the mound - pitching a complete game, allowing seven hits while fanning four batters.
Game 2 - Indiana State 10, AAMU 5
Sabrina Hurns,
Paris Sanders, Riley, Deadwyler, and Menchaca all scored runs for A&M. A Menchaca homerun to centerfield in the second inning drove in two Bulldogs. Halie Buie and Sanders also recorded a RBI.
Game 3 - Valparaiso 11, AAMU 1
Buie recorded the lone run for the A&M in the top of the first off Menchaca. Janice Aleman, Rangel, and Menchaca tallied the only three hits for the Bulldogs.
Game 4 - Tenn. State 8, AAMU 0
The Bulldogs were unable to get things going on the offensive side, as they were held hitless for the entire game. The Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning. Buie took the loss, working five innings and striking out six.
