Alabama A&M Director of Athletics, Betty Austin, announced Tuesday she has accepted the immediate resignation of interim head baseball coach Demetrius Mitchell. Mitchell was in his first season leading the Bulldogs and his second at the school. He served as an assistant coach during the 2009 season for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will play tonight and Wednesday at Auburn. Former head coach Jay Martin will serve as the interim head coach for the team in those two games. Martin served as head coach for the Bulldogs from 2007 to 2009. A decision will be made following the Auburn series as to the future of the coaching position at Alabama A&M.
Currently, the Bulldogs are 10-4 on the season and 0-2 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
