Brown Selected to Participate in NCAA Women Coaches Academy

Head volleyball/softball coach Nedra Brown has been selected to participate in the 2010 NCAA Women Coaches Academy being held June 10-14th in Atlanta, Ga.  The academy is designed to give coaches the opportunity to understand their expanding role as a coach, along with perspectives and skills to help them make the most of their situation. In the company and understanding of other coaches, they will have the opportunity to talk and listen with others to gain support and learn new tools and strategies.

“I am very excited to be one of the twenty five females selected to attend this years Women’s Coaches Academy," said Brown. "This is something that I have always wanted to be apart of and feel like it’s the right time in my career to have been chosen.  I will be like a sponge and absorb all the knowledge that I possible can and enjoy such a magnificent event."

In 2002, the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics (CWA) supported an initiative to train, support and retain women coaches. That was the start of the Women Coaches Academy (WCA). To date there have been fifteen highly successful sessions of the five-day academies, which are open to any coach from any sport, and any division.
