Alabama A&M is #1

Hartly, DE – Alabama A&M moved to the top-spot and Winston Salem State is unanimous again in Week-10 HSRN Div. I FCS and Div. II polls. It’s Alabama A&M’s first and Winston Salem State is on to the top spot for the seventh consecutive week in the number one position. Each week during the 2011 season HSRN staff and writers, along with selected media representatives and SIDs, will rank Historical Black Colleges Division I FCS and NCAA Division II teams.

In FCS action last week unranked Grambling State knock off #1 Jackson State 26-23 in Jackson, MS, dropping the Tigers to#4 and moving GSU into the top-10 at #10. Alabama A&M got 13 of the 22 first place votes and moved up to the #1 position, while Norfolk State got nine first place votes and moved up from #3 to #2 after their 45-3 win over Savannah State. Howard upset #5 Hampton 10-7 and moved into the top-10 at #8, dropping the Pirates to #9. Alabama State moved up to #3 after their 28-14 win over Alcorn State and Florida A&M moved up to #5 after defeating N.C. A&T 26-20. S.C. State was idle last week, but still moved up one position to #6. BethuneCookman knocked off #8 Morgan State 49-23 and moved from #8 to #7, Morgan State dropped out of the top-10.
