Hester Named to 8th Annual Historic Black College All-Star Classic

ATLANTA, GA (February 7, 2011) – Alabama A&M men's basketball senior Cornelius Hester has been selected to play in the 8th Annual Historic Black College All-Star Classic presented by Check Up Athletic Wear April 23, 2011 in Columbus, GA at the Columbus Civic Center .

The WBA Foundation's 8th Annual Historic Black College All-Star Classic [HBCAC] will take place on Saturday April 23rd at the Columbus Civic Center. The top 24 basketball stars of Historical Black Colleges and Universities from across the country will showcase their skills for thousands of fans as well as NBA and international scouts. Additionally a generous donation will be made to the Columbus Boys and Girls Club of America.

"To compete among their most competitive peers in the Historical Black College All-Star Classic is a dream come true to many athletes who may not get the exposure to play in front of NBA & other pro-league scouts," explained Leroy McMath, President & Chairman of the WBA Exposure League and HBCAC Co-Founder. "The Historical Black College All-Star Classic gives players the opportunity to be center stage for the press, scouts, coaches and more," McMath added.

Coach Lionel Garrett, HBCU Southern University alum, will join other esteemed coaches and basketball professionals for the HBC All-Star Classic. Garrett was drafted and signed by the San Diego Clippers and played with the Harlem Globetrotters and overseas. Additionally, Lionel Garrett coached at HBCU's Miles College and Talladega College, internationally, and in the CBA and WBA leagues.

"After playing at Southern and participating in All-Star games I understand how important this type of exposure is for a player. I am honored to coach in this great event and help players reach the next level," Coach Garrett explained.
