NORMAL – On the fifth day of Alabama A&M’s 10th year head football coach Anthony Jones preseason camp, there was cracking in the air.
That cracking came from all the hitting the 2011 Bulldog football players were doing for the first time in four months.
“Every drill we went through today, both teams competed,” mentioned Jones. “The Oklahoma drill was the most intense as it provided the first real action in one on one competition for the players.”
The offense prevailed in the Oklahoma drill causing the defense to do extra up downs.
“That’s football. Hitting is apart of the game,” coach Jones said. “There was a lot of enthusiasm and emotion on the first day.
“I want my guys to be fired up about football and I want them to be excited about representing their university.”
“Last year this time we weren’t where we are now,” Jones continued. “We’re able to throw the ball down the field and the defense is getting some sacks on pretty good plays.
Jones was pleased with today’s action that included spirited after play pushing and shoving for a few veterans and freshmen. Senior free safety Rico Porch had to run laps for his extracurricular activities once the whistle was blown.
Season and single football game tickets are still available by calling the A&M ticket office at 256-372-4059 or by visiting the Bulldog ticket office web site at WWW.ALLABOUTTICKETS.COM.
