NORMAL – The Alabama A&M staff, coaches and student athletes attended the Legends Round Table at the Von Braum center concert hall Tuesday evening.

The event was sponsored by the John Stallworth foundation and featured Pro Football Hall of Fame members and former Pittsburgh Steelers Mel Blount, Joe Green and John Stallworth, along with Super Bowl winning Coach Tony Dungy as participants.

The event was educational, inspiring and entertaining - and it wasn’t just about football. The message was universal and informative as athletes from local area schools attended. The panel emphasized the importance of education, life skills and preparation for a career beyond sports.

The panel members spoke about topics generated by two moderators and held a brief question and answer session at the end of the event.

Students who planned to be in attendance were allowed to submit a question and once chosen; selected questions were read by the moderators.  Representing the Maroon & White was defensive back Vernon Marshall who asked how you handle adversity since the Bulldogs have lost two straight contests.

Tony Dungy was not able to attend in person due to super storm Sandy canceling flights out of New York.  He did however attend via Skype and told of his experience after his 18 year old son committed suicide.
