Mason named to CFPA Watch list

NORMAL – The five-time Eastern Division champions starting quarterback Deaunte Mason was named to the College Football Performance Awards watch list for the upcoming season.

Mason has compiled a 12-10 overall record and has seen action in 22 contests in the Maroon and White.
Last season he was named second team All-SWAC and during the game versus the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff the Kentucky native threw a career high four touchdowns.

Mason has led the Bulldogs to the 2009 and 2011 Southwestern Athletic Conference football championship contests and is 2-1 versus Alabama State in the annual Magic City Classic.

In 2011 Mason totaled 160 completions on 325 attempts and seven interceptions with 1,996 yards and 11 TD’s his best numbers during his collegiate season. He rushed for 512 yards on 124 carries and three touchdowns.

League speaking Mason finished fourth in passing average a game with 166.3 yards, 10^th in passing efficiency with a 107.7 mark and third in total offense averaging 209 yards a contest.
