A&M to host Southern; Men’s Basketball Live on ESPNU

Game Notes

NORMAL --The Alabama A&M basketball teams will host the Jaguars of Southern University, on Monday, January 21st, at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. on “The Hill” in the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.

The Lady Bulldogs are 6-10 overall and are currently tied for second place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference holding on 5-1 record.

Junior forward Jasmine Sanders leads the Maroon & White averaging 10.4 points per game. A&M defeated Alcorn State, 64-44, Saturday afternoon. Four Lady Bulldogs finished with double digit points led by Shundray Davis, and Brittney Strickland who both finished with 13 points.

Lachell Rush is Southern’s leading scorer and rebounder. She averaged a double-double, recording 17.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, during a three-game span. Rush shot 58 percent overall and recorded two blocks.  Southern is in first place with a 6-1 conference record and 7-11 overall.
 
The Alabama A&M men’s basketball team faced a tough Alcorn State Braves squad that got the best of the Bulldogs defeating them 69-59 on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs are 7-10 overall and posts a 3-3 conference record.

The 13-6 Jaguar men’s squad is led by Malcolm Miller, who had a dominant week in the Jaguars last three games, averaging 25.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest. SU also holds a perfect 7-0 in the league and is in first place.

ESPN will celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 21st. The men’s game will be broadcasted live on ESPNU at 8:30 p.m. CST.
