Women’s Basketball to host Murray State

NORMAL –After a week-long of final exams, the Alabama A&M women's basketball team will hit the hardwood, when they host Murray State University on "The Hill". Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the T.M Elmore Gymnasium.

Alabama A&M brings in a six-game losing streak into Saturday's contest.
 
Senior guards Brittany and Alyssa Strickland are the team's leading scorers in five of the last six contests and are averaging 12.2 points per game during that span, bringing their season average up to a team-best 12 and 13.0 points a game. Senior forward Jasmine Sanders (9.3 ppg) and senior guard Taylor Sippial (8.3 ppg) are the team's next two leading scorers, Sanders also is averaging a team best 5.5 rebounds per game.

The Murray State women's basketball team closed out the home portion of its non-conference schedule with a relatively easy 88-47 win over the University of New Orleans Saturday at the CFSB Center.

Keigna Kirby led MSU in the contest with the first double-double of her career of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jessica Winfrey also pulled down a double-double in the contest with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The double-double was Winfrey's third of the season and second in the past three games.
 
The closest win for Murray State versus AAMU came in the first meeting when they topped the Lady Bulldogs, 61-59, on Jan. 15, 2007 in Normal. Murray leads the series 5-1. Last season the Maroon and White fell to the Racers 54-69.
