Bulldog Track & Field season off to good start

Results

Birmingham- The Bulldog track and field teams started their season on a positive note in the "Magic City". A&M traveled to Birmingham, Ala. to participate in the annual Panther Indoor Ice Breaker hosted by Birmingham Southern College at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Getting the ball rolling for the Bulldogs was Marion Epperson in the women's weight throw. Epperson competed in the finals and took the first top ten finish on the day. Epperson's throw of 12.96 meters was good for ninth place. Maria Reyes-Ramos followed Epperson on the women's side by recording her own top 10 finish. Ramos took third place in the long jump with a mark of 11.00 meters.

On the men's side, Jonathan Sanford and Maurice Jones recorded top 10 finishes. Jones placed eighth in the long jump (6.29 meters), while Sanford took second with a jump of 6.67 meters. Jones followed his eighth place long jump mark, with a 6th place finish in the high jump at 1.85 meters. In the field, the Maroon and White recorded eight top 20 finishes and five top 10 finishes.

Following the example of their fellow teammates, the Bulldog runners also performed well in their season opener. The runners recorded a total 10 top 20 finishes and three top 10 finishes. The women's 4x400 team placed seventh, while Demetrious Peacock and Donte' McDaniel combined for fourth and second in the men's 60-meter hurdles. Peacock's time of 8.71 came behind McDaniel's time of 8.20.

The Maroon & White will take a small break from competition due to finals and the holiday break. They will return to action in the New Year at Tennessee State on January 4.
