Bulldog runners compete in Samford Multi Track Meet

Normal- The Alabama A&M outdoor track squads participated in the Samford Multi-Track meet in Birmingham, Ala. this past weekend.
 
Majority of the competition came from the state of Alabama, along with teams coming out of Tennessee and Ohio.
 
The Maroon & White had a positive showing recording 15 top-10 finishes in various events.
 
The Lady Bulldogs fared slightly better than their male counterparts. The A&M men’s squad tallied seven top-10 finishes and three top-5 finishes, whereas the women tallied eight and six respectively.
 
Top Bulldog performances include Marion Malone’s fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.98 along with a second and fourth finish in the 4x100 relay race. The “B” squad comprised of Demetrious Peacock, Kyle King, Dwight Tigner, and Maurice Jones combined for a time of 45.09 (4th), and the “A” team of Donte’ McDaniel, Dexter Sanford, Jonathan Sanford, and Marion Malone pooled a time of 42.73 to take second.
 
The Lady Bulldogs only top-10 finish in the field came by way of Marion Epperson who took seventh in the women’s discus. Their performance on the track however, was more impressive.
 
A&M tallied six top-5 finishes coming in six different events. One of these finishes was from the 4x100 relay team of Raven Dove, Cydnecia Wade, Diamond Tedford, and Destiny Thurman who recorded a fourth place finish of 50.19. Other finishes came by way of Raven Dove, Keyonna McIntyre and Cydnecia Wade. Dove placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (106.14), McIntyre took fourth and fifth in the 400-meter dash and 800 meter run (100.28, 2.25.17), and Wade recorded a time of 12.24 for fourth in the 100-meter dash and a time of 25.15 for second in the 200-meter dash.
 
Next weekend, the Bulldogs will head to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama Relays. The two days of competition will kick off on Friday, March 22nd and continue through Saturday, March 23rd.
