AAMU Softball Falls to UAH, 11-0


HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Cross-town foe, the Lady Chargers of Alabama-Huntsville outscored the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M, 11-0 on Tuesday night at Charger Park, in Huntsville. The Chargers improved to 33-13 on the year, while A&M fell to 11-27 to end their 2013 regular season.
 
The Lady Chargers offense provided the team with plenty of run support early as UAH sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning.

The Blue and White recorded six hits and took advantage of four walks in the frame while knocking the A&M starter, Anisa Britt, out of the circle after facing just seven hitters. Six UAH batters all drove in runs in the inning.

The Chargers would add three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to create the 11-0 outcome.

A&M could not muster up a hit until the top of the fifth inning. Britt started the inning off with a single to left field, following Britt, Meagan Gray lined up the middle with a single. Both players advance to third, but was forced out.  Nicole Norton and Sitembile Lee each got credit with a fielders’ choice.

Melony Hill grounded out to the pitcher for the third and final out.

Cassandra Brown came in to relieve Britt. Brown worked 3.2 innings, as she faced 21 batters while striking out two and walked three.
