Men’s Golf takes sixth at SWAC Championship


NORMAL—The A&M men’s golf team finished in sixth place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference golf championship Wednesday afternoon.
 
Will Smartt once again lead the Bulldogs by posting a score of 80 after 18 holes.  Leland Adams was the bright spot for AAMU as he lowered his score from a 93 on the first day to an 81 on the final day of the conference tournament. 
 
Head coach Josh Oliver’s squad totaled a 345 on day three which allowed them to slip by the Braves of Alcorn State for sixth place after holding down the seventh spot in the first two days of action.
 
Smartt ended the championship tied for ninth place after a three day total of 231.  He earned his first league honor by being named to the All-SWAC second team.
