NORMAL -- Thirteen varsity athletic teams at Alabama A&M University scored above the national benchmark score of 930 in the latest Academic Progress Rate report issued by NCAA on June 11, 2013.

Figures released covered a four-year period extending from the school years of 2008 through 2012. A&M celebrates four Bulldog teams that posted a perfect APR Single Year Score of 1000.

Men's Basketball-APR Score 1000

Women's Bowling-APR Score 1000

Women's Cross Country-APR Score 1000

Women's Tennis-APR Score 1000

The Academic Progress Rate - commonly referred to as APR - is a metric created by the NCAA to quantify how much progress member institutions make in moving student-athletes towards graduation. NCAA APR is designed to provide a real-time measure of eligibility, retention and graduation of all Division I student-athletes.

Director of Athletics, Bryan Hicks said, "This is a good start of teamwork among student-athletes, coaches, academic support staff and athletic administrators. We are very proud of this combined effort of excellence in academics, and we look forward to continued improvement in the future."

Men's Basketball- AAMU's latest score, which reflects the average of four seasons beginning in 2008, falls short of the 930 benchmark score required by the NCAA. The men's basketball team has a multi-year APR Score of 917 and a single year perfect score of 1000. It should be noted that the single year score for the men's basketball team has increased each year since the 2008-09 academic school year. This team will not receive any NCAA penalties for the 2011-12 academic school year.

Baseball- The Baseball team has a multi-year APR score of 926. This team did not receive any NCAA penalties and they are required to complete all the steps listed in a NCAA Academic Improvement Plan.

Men's Golf- the men's golf team has a multi-year APR score of 790 which falls below the 930 benchmark score. This team will face NCAA restrictions of reduced practice time and they are required to complete all the steps listed in a NCAA Academic Improvement Plan.
