Eastern Division Soccer Champs report to camp

NORMAL - Alabama A&M women's soccer program has reported to campus and will begin practice for the 2013 season on Wednesday, August 7th.

Head Coach Frank Davies enters his 13th season at the helm of the program and is very excited about this year's squad as the Lady Bulldogs are coming off their 2012 Eastern Division title season.

Davies has seven starters back from last season's team that saw A&M win five matches against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) schools. Davies has also added 12 newcomers to this year's program.

Even though the two-time coach of the year has seven starters back from last year, that does not mean he did not go out and recruit for specific positions.

With the strong nucleus of returners plus the newcomers, one thing that has to be built is team chemistry, and that is one of the things Davies is looking for during the first couple of weeks of camp.

The Lady Bulldogs will have a tough schedule facing a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference (Clemson University) and a team that played in the NCAA tournament last season (Mississippi Valley State).

The Maroon and White will begin their season on Friday, Aug. 23, when they host South Carolina State at 1 p.m. at Bulldog Field.
