NORMAL - The 2014 softball team, lead by Head Coach Nakeya Hall, will begin the bulk of their conference schedule by taking on the Tigers of Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi this weekend.
The team has already faced competition from fellow Southwestern Athletic Conference schools during the SWAC roundup in Longview, Texas. While facing their Western Division foes in Texas, A&M went 1-4, managing to grab a 14-8 win over the Grambling State Tigers. The team was able to record a season high 18 hits in seven innings of play.
During this round of league action, the Maroon & White will play a three-game series versus each of the remaining programs in the SWAC's Eastern Division (Jackson State, Alabama State, Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State).
On the weekend of April 4-5, the Lady Bulldogs will take on the Lady Tigers of Jackson State University.
The teams will play a single game on Friday (6 pm) before playing a doubleheader on Saturday (12 pm).
