AAMU FOOTBALL REPORTS TO PRESEASON CAMP; FIRST PRACTICE WEDNESDAY

NORMAL – There has been plenty of talk since James Spady was named Alabama A&M University's head football coach in January.

On Wednesday, there was finally some football.

"It felt good to get out there and chews some guys out a little bit," Spady said with a laugh following his first fall practice as head coach. "No, it felt good just to coach them and push them and just get the blood flowing from a coaching point of view."


The 2014 Alabama A&M University football team reported to camp with an early morning workout will and hit the practice field for the first time on Wednesday, July, 30 at 3 p.m. inside the AAMU practice fields.

Tuesday evening, the Bulldogs checked-in their dorms and attended orientation meetings, followed by medical physicals, and athletics staff presentations with lots of forms to be completed.

Throughout the day on Wednesday, equipment will be issued, the team will breakdown into unit meetings, a campus orientation session will be conducted, and practice will begin at 3 p.m.

The preseason camp will wrap up on Saturday, Aug. 16 with a scrimmage at 6 p.m. inside Louis Crews Stadium.  The scrimmage is open to the public and admission is free.

AAMU opens the 2014 season on Aug. 31 against North Carolina A&T State University.  The game, slated to be televised on ESPN Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 at 11:45 a.m. ET, and will be played for the first time at Bright House Networks Stadium on the campus of the University of Central Florida (UCF), while the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium undergoes renovations.

The Bulldogs' first home game is on Oct. 4 against Grambling State University inside Louis Crews Stadium. Season tickets to AAMU's four home games are still available for purchase online at www.aamutix.com or at the AAMU Ticket Office 256-372-4700 in the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.
