Preseason Camp Update: Bulldogs Practice in Full Pads for First Time

NORMAL - Players and coaches have repeatedly cited the intensity of the first few days of preseason practice. But it was raised to another level on Sunday, as the Alabama A&M football team practiced in full pads for the first time this season.

Head coach James Spady charges responded with yet another solid practice at Bulldog Field, their fifth of the summer.

"The biggest difference with putting on full pads is mental," explained Spady. "You put your pants on; you put your thigh pads in there and your knee pads ... you feel like a real football player. You don't have shorts on, and so the intensity picked up a little bit. It's exciting and the kids responded well. They're ready for it."

With a blazing sun slipping behind heavy cloud cover in the afternoon, A&M's players benefitted from dipping temperatures earlier in the week but put forth a productive two-hour session. With the majority of their offensive and defensive schemes already installed, the Bulldogs began to focus on polishing the nuances of each play throughout workout.
