Cold-shooting second half stifles Bulldogs

HUNTSVILLE -- A cold snap hit Elmore Gym in the second half of the Bulldogs game Monday with Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Alabama A&M made just three field goals in the final 20 minutes, including one 3-pointer, in a 53-42 loss to the Golden Lions.

The score was tied at 23-all at intermission and Ladarius Tabb hit a three-pointer to open the second half and a 26-23 Bulldogs lead.

But, that would be the last time they held the lead.

UAPB responded with a 9-1 run for a 32-27 lead with 14:59 left in the game. After that, the Bulldogs could get no closer than one point, trailing 32-31 with 13:22 to play.

Tabb had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds while Nick West also had 10 rebounds to go with 8 points.

The Bulldogs shot 28 percent (12 for 43) from the field for the game - after a 3-for-18 (17 percent) effort in the second half. Meanwhile, UAPB hit 12 of 22 in the second half and finished 18 of 45 (40 percent) for the game.

A&M also had 16 turnovers and UAPB converted them into 20 points.

The Bulldogs take to the road this weekend to visit Alabama State on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
