Bulldogs fall in nail-biter at Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss. -- Rakiya Battle's jumper at the buzzer bounced off the rim and a fierce second-half rally by the Bulldogs fell short Monday in a 67-66 win by Jackson State.

The win drops the Bulldogs to 0-2 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference while the Tigers are 2-0.

Jacob Perry had a career high 18 points with four assists to lead the Bulldogs. Ladarius Tabb was hampered by 4-for-11 shooting from the field to score 11 points and Nicholas West, playing in foul trouble, added 10 points. Tabb also had nine rebounds.

Battle hit a shot from  halfcourt at the horn and the Bulldogs went into intermission trailing 31-28.

However, the Tigers came out hot and held as much as a 13-point lead with 8:59 left in the game before the Bulldogs mounted their comeback attempt.

The Bulldogs host Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.
