Last-second field goal lifts Jackson State past Bulldogs

HUNTSVILLE -- Jackson State's Christian Jacquemin's 26-yard field goal as time elapsed provided the difference Saturday as Jackson State beat the Bulldogs 10-7.

It was the first home loss of the season for A&M, who fall to 3-7 overall and 3-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

After a scoreless half, the Bulldogs took the lead when Aqeel Glass hit Kalais Robertson on a 19-yard catch-and-run touchdown pass. Nick Carden's point-after put A&M up 7-0 with 7:14 left in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs set up the scoring drive after Dylan Hamilton's interception at the Jackson State 44.

Jackson State tied the game with 10:39 left in the game and the two teams traded punts before JSU's CJ Holmes intercepted Aqeel Glass at the Tiger-25, stopping a potential A&M scoring drive with 2:42 left in the game.

For the Bulldogs, Jordan Bentley rushed for 108 yards on 21 carries; it was his second-straight game of 100-plus yards rushing.

A&M held JSU to 252 total yards, led by Vernon Moland who had four sacks, five tackles for loss and he forced a fumble. Hamilton had eight total tackles along with his interception.

The Bulldogs wrap up the season next Saturday when Kentucky State visits Louis Crews Stadium. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
