PRAIRIE VIEW, Tex.--- Day two of the 2018 SWAC Outdoor Championship hosted by Prairie View A&M University sought out better results for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University.

Leading the men's side, DeAndre Baker captured the Silver Medal in the Men's Long Jump with a leap of 7.49 meters (24-07.00), which moved him up on the NCAA East Outdoor Regional Qualifying list. Also round off the field, Akeem Samuels finished 4th in the Men's Shot Put with a throw of 14.65 meters (48-08.00) followed by teammate Christian Bryant in 5th with a throw of 14.01 meters (45-11.75). Freshman Jordan Simons finished 7th place in the Decathlon, which was the last event final for the Bulldogs for the second day of competition. Â

Several Bulldogs qualified for the Finals which will be held on tomorrow beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the Women's Discus, Women's Triple and the Men's High Jump. DeTorrian Green qualified in the both the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.04 and in the 100 meter dash with a personal best of 10.34 also moving him up on the NCAA East Outdoor Regional Qualifying list. Leroy Campbell qualified for the 800 meter run with a personal best of 1:53.25. Alex Ward and Tre Williams both qualified in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.81 for Ward and 52.83 for Williams. On the women's side, Alexis Lucas was the lone scorer on the women side finishing 7th in the Shot Put with a throw of 12.50 meters (41-00.25). The women qualifiers for the finals tomorrow are: Akia Slaughter in both the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.95 and the 200 meters with a time of 24.42. Achante' Freeman qualified in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.92.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will be back in action at 9:00 a.m. for Day Three, the final day of competition for Championship. The championship is scheduled to end with the men 4 x 400 meter relay at 4:00 p.m.
