The Bulldogs completed a 12-0 weekend with a 4-0 sweep of Prairie View A&M in the SWAC Tournament Championship by scores of 180-140, 193-164, 176-160, and 171-168. The second SWAC title in school history (2007 and 2010), A&M had fallen by a single pin in the last two SWAC championship matches. Alabama A&M senior right fielder LaDale Hayes has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference player of the week for his performance in six games last week. Hayes batted .550 and scored 10 runs with 11 RBI as the Bulldogs posted a 5-1 record, including a four-game sweep over Kentucky State and a doubleheader split with Miles. He had three triples and a double in collecting 11 hits in 20 at bats. He hit safely in all six games.
