NORMAL -- The women’s soccer team completed their “Kick Cancer in the Grass” 2012 campaign by donating the monies raised to the Cancer Center Institute of Huntsville, Alabama in honor of their teammate Jazmine Maclin, who is battling breast cancer.

On October 12th the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Grambling State Lady Tigers 4-1 in their breast cancer awareness contest.

Fans wore T-shirts sold as part of the fundraiser; funds were collected for donations while Jazmine and her family mingled among the crowd.

Donna Johnson of the Cancer Center Institute thanked the team and stated that the funds will be used to help other cancer patients with financial needs such as travel, meals, and medical purchases.

“We are proud to contribute to a good cause in the name of Jazmine,” said head coach Frank Davies.  “We loved helping Jazmine and her family through this time.”

“We feel honored with the opportunity to help the cancer center and contribute to helping find a cure,” Davies mentioned.
