Senior Rose Corneille and sophomore Clarissa Moore has been selected to the COBRA Magazine All-Preseason Third Team. Corneille earned SWAC Defensive Player of the Year honors following last season, while Moore received Freshman of the Year accolades. COBRA Magazine's purpose is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging black girls to pursue the sport.
Corneille – a 5-foot-4 junior defensive specialist from Dacula, GA – has proven to be one the SWAC’s fiercest defenders this season. She led the conference in digs, tallying 433 for a 4.20 digs per game average. Clarissa Moore, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Houston, Texas has been one of the SWAC’s premier offensive threats this season while being a key component in the Bulldogs’ success last year. She ranked first in the SWAC with a .284 hitting percentage and was second in kills, averaging 2.84 per game. She also was third in the conference in service aces, logging 50 for the season. Moore recorded a season-high 32 kills against Jackson State last season and had six games with a .500 or better hitting percentage.
