BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior Cheri Lindsay of Prairie View A&M was named SWAC Volleyball Player of the Week. Alabama A&M's Rose Corneille was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week while outside hitter Chyna Coleman of Jackson State garnered Newcomer of the Week honors.
Lindsay (OH, 5-8, Sr., Denver, Colo.) finished with a double-double of 21 kills and 17 digs in a conference win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She had a .329 attack percentage in two games last week and contributed nine digs against Houston Baptist.
Corneille (DS, 5-4, Sr., Dacula, Ga.) tallied 62 digs in three matches last weekend. She helped her team to wins over South Alabama and UNC Asheville and averaged over 20 digs per match.
Coleman (OH, 5-8, Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) tallied 32 digs in three matches for the Lady Tigers, posting double-digit digs in each decision. This is the second consecutive week that Coleman has earned SWAC Newcomer of the Week honors.
