Alabama A&M Bulldogs

Volunteers too much for Alabama A&M

Dec. 27, 2005

Box Score

Knoxville, Tenn. - Joe Martin scored a career-high 27 points, but Tennessee converted too many easy chances and shot 53 percent from the floor en route to a 93-68 victory Tuesday over Alabama A&M at Thompson-Boling Arena. Martin led three Bulldogs in double figures as Obie Trotter and Michael Ford each added 12 points. AAMU hit a season-high nine three-point baskets, but could not force Tennessee into turnovers and easy buckets in the loss.

Alabama A&M stayed with the Vols early in the contest matching the hosts basket for basket through the midway point of the first half. UT was able to pull away late in the first to build a 13-point lead at the half, 45-32. A&M would score just six points in the first seven minutes of the second half, and Tennessee iced the game in that span building as much as a 30-point lead.

Highlights for the Bulldogs included Martin's 27 points, Marcus Jones grabbing a career-high five rebounds, and hitting all 11 free throw attempts as a team.
