Alabama A&M Athletics

The Alabama A&M University Athletics Communications Office serves as the liaison between the Bulldogs’ 17 varsity sports and local, state and national media outlets. The staff works closely with the coaches, student-athletes and University to enhance the publicity efforts and showcase the accomplishments of Alabama A&M University student-athletes in competition, the classroom and community.

A media credential is issued for the sole purpose of providing access to a media member who has a legitimate working function in connection with Alabama A&M University games. A media credential is non-transferable and Alabama A&M may limit, suspend or terminate access to the Alabama A&M athletic events and revoke a media credential at any time.

Because of space limitations, only members of the media who cover Alabama A&M on a regular basis (plus media accompanying the visiting team and national media) will be considered for credentials to Alabama A&M home games. Credentials are issued on a game-by-game basis.

Requests for working press credentials should be made to the AAMU Athletic Communications Office. Requests should be made at least one week in advance to sport contact. Scouts and non-working media will be seated if space is available, dependent on league and national rules.

Shall not enter, and shall remain outside, the designated team bench at all times, and shall not have contact with the coaching staff or student-athletes during the game except for the pre-approved in-game live media interviews with the coaching staff or current student-athletes.

Shall not have any contact with any Alabama A&M prospective student-athlete (or their relatives or friends) before, during or after the game. This includes in-person contact and written or electronic communications, either directly or via a third party.

Shall not take photographs of prospective student-athletes that are visiting Alabama A&M for an official or unofficial visit.

Shall not solicit information from Alabama A&M sources, including staff, coaches and current student-athletes, regarding the recruiting of prospective student-athletes.

Shall not arrange, provide or promise to provide any benefits to any current Alabama A&M student-athlete (or their relatives or friends) or prospective student-athlete (or their relatives or friends), other than as pre-approved in connection with a media activity (e.g., radio, TV broadcast/production).

Shall not use a student-athlete to promote or advertise a media program.

Shall not solicit from Alabama A&M administrators, staff or coaches any information pertaining to the educational and/or medical records of its student-athletes.

Certify that they are not an agent (e.g., sports agent, marketing agent or financial advisor to athletes) or any such agent's employee, representative or affiliate (including "runners").

Agree to abide by all credential use policies, including policies specific to individual sports; failure to do so may result in ejection from the venue and the revocation of future credential privileges.

All interview requests with Alabama A&M University student-athletes and coaches must be arranged through a member of the communications staff and, per NCAA guidelines, be given at least 48 hours notice.

In addition to coordinating news conferences and interviews, Alabama A&M University Athletics Communications is also responsible for running the social media accounts for each sport, maintaining the aamusports.com website and providing statistical and historical information to members of the media. Alabama A&M University Athletics Communications also serves as liaisons for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and NCAA.

Releases, game notes and advisories are e-mailed to media that cover AAMU on a regular basis. Media wishing to be added to the e-mail list for a particular sport should contact the strategic communications representative responsible for that sport.

Updated bios, notes, rosters, schedules, statistics, quotes, etc., will be available throughout the season for every sport on aamusports.com. Specific information not readily available on the website may be available through the strategic communications office. Please contact the sport representative with your request.

Alabama A&M University athletics will abide by HIPAA - a federal privacy act with regard to the release of injury information. AAMU athletes will be required to sign a waiver before their injury information is released to the media. If the athlete chooses to withhold that information, AAMU officials will be restricted to informing the media members of their playing status only.

For football, a general media pass will allow you access to the field during pre-game warmups and during the final five minutes of the fourth quarter only. Field access will be limited to working photographers and television reporters. No interviews may be conducted on the field and any attempt to do so may lead to the loss of your media pass.

For football, photo passes for newspaper photographers and television videographers are available from the AAMU Strategic Communications Office. Photo passes entitle the photographer access to the sideline, the post-game press conference room and the press box. No tripods are allowed to shoot on the field. Monopods are okay.
