Netters Split in First Day at Southern Invite

Baton Rouge, La. - Alabama A&M's volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday at the Southern Invitational. Prairie View A&M won a five set match (30-26, 26-30, 30-22, 29-31, 15-10) in the morning session as the Bulldogs played shorthanded for this tournament. Both Brittani Lewis and Devona Williams are part of the Homecoming festivities back in Huntsville. The Bulldogs recovered from the loss to PVAM to defeat Jackson State 3-1 in the night session (30-24, 30-28, 22-30, 30-28).

Kara Jerden led the AAMU offense with a two-match total of 18 kills, 89 assists, and four aces. Cassidy Brazelton totaled 32 kills, while Crystal Ward tallied 26 digs.

Alabama A&M will face Grambling at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning to round out play in the Southern Invitational.
