Streak Halted at Six; Bulldogs Out at SWAC Volleyball Tourney

Prairie View, Tex. - The pursuit of a seventh straight SWAC volleyball title and berth into the NCAA Tournament came to an end Friday as Texas Southern slipped past Alabama A&M 3-2 (15-13 in the deciding game) to give the Bulldogs their second loss of the day. Alabama A&M opened the day with a resounding defeat of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 3-0, but then ran into a highly motivated Prairie View team on its home floor. The Panthers defeated A&M 3-0 to send them to the losers bracket where TSU was waiting.

Alabama A&M finishes the season 10-14 overall.  It is the first losing season for the Bulldogs since head coach Betty Austin's second year in 1978.
