Final Stats
Mickell Gladness scored career highs Monday with 18 points and 10 rebounds as Alabama A&M moved to 4-3 on the season with an 84-63 victory over Oakwood. The junior center also blocked six shots in the win. The preseason SWAC Defensive Player of the Year now has 33 blocked shots on the season through seven games.
Alabama A&M gained control of a close game late in the first half with a 14-0 run over the final 4:26 to close the period. The Bulldogs led at the intermission 37-25.
A&M's Trant Simpson and Kudus Ogbara kept the Ambassadors at arm's length throughout the second half. Simpson scored 11 of his game-high 21 in the second half, and Ogbara added 14 of his 16 at the same time. Both totals are career highs. Simpson also dished out five assists and had four steals, as did Evan Hilton.
James Doggette led Oakwood with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Alabama A&M will play host Saturday to Tuskegee at 7:30 p.m.
