The Lady Bulldogs finally got their season underway with a
solid 5-2 win over the Lady Bisons of Lipscomb.
The Lady Bulldogs have started this season with great success. The #2 team of Jones and Pinder(22-1 in '05) started off the night by getting an 8-2 win. Bvunzawabaya and Tsangamwe followed suit at #1 doubles,
scoring an 8-4 win and securing the doubles point.
In '05, the Lady Bisons mounted a comeback in singles and were able to get a 4-3 win over the Lady Bulldogs, unfortunately they were not as lucky this year
Sophomore Charlene Tsangamwe got the singles scoring going with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #1. Junior Shaniek Pinder was next off the court with a 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 win at #2 singles. At #3 singles, Junior Monique Jones came away with a 6-1, 5-7, 10-5 win. Batsi Bvunzawabaya got a solid 6-2, 6-2 win to close out the scoring for the night. First year player Brittany Woodgett wasable to get her first collegiate match under her belt and will now work to get her first collegiate win.
Quick adjustments were made by the Lady Bulldogs, this was their first time in 4 years playing indoor and there was a shortage of courts as well.
"I was really pleased at the way the ladies were able to get out,
get off of their games, and refocus to close out the matches,"
commented coach Thomas Colvin.
