Debra Borcherding began the SWAC season in style Friday earning both pitching victories as Alabama A&M played both its first conference and home games on the season. She shut down the Tigers and the offense rebounded for a 10-4 win.

Jamie Williams started the game in the circle, but only managed one out before giving up four runs. Borcherding went 5.2 innings of hitless relief. Taryn Hartley pitched the final inning. Angelia Heard and Patrice Betts both collected two hits in the nightcap. Katie Ortiz took the loss for Texas Southern giving up seven runs in 4.1 innings.

A&M scored its final run on another sacrifice fly, this time by Angelia Heard, after Mack tripled for A&M's only hit.
