Box Score

Itta Bena, Miss. - Alabama A&M head coach Vann Pettaway got the combination for which he was looking Monday. His Bulldogs combined a solid, balanced offensive performance with an intense and opportunistic defense in an 85-74 victory at Mississippi Valley State. Obie Trotter (pictured) led all scorers with 27, and was followed by Michael Ford with 23, Joe Martin with 16, and Marcus Jones with 11.

Alabama A&M not only forced 25 Delta Devil turnovers, but converted those mistakes into 27 points on the offensive end. The Bulldogs produced 14 steals and hit 25 of 31 free throws, which proved to be the difference in the game. Both teams hit 27 total field goals with six three-point baskets. A&M outscored the Devils 25-14 at the line.

Valley did hold a 48-32 advantage on the glass, including 23 offensive rebounds. The Delta Devils also had four players in double figures, led by Stanford Speech's 17.
