Jason Harrison's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning capped a comeback victory for Alabama A&M, which ended its season Sunday with a 13-12 win at Alabama State. The Bulldogs trailed 8-1 entering the top of the sixth inning, but rallied for five runs in the sixth and then tied the game with three runs in the top of the ninth before Harrison's game-winner in the 10th.
Trailing 8-1 in the top of the sixth, AAMU rallied for five runs. Andrew Ragland's double keyed the inning, along with four fielding miscues by the Hornets.
Kevin Lovejoy singled home two more runs in the seventh when the Bulldogs put together a two-out rally.
Trailing 12-9 entering the ninth, the Bulldogs again rallied, and again were given four extra outs by Alabama State. Aurthur Moore and and Ragland both singled and advanced on throwing errors, as Ragland's single plated Moore. Lovejoy reached on a fielding error that scored Ragland. A stolen base and another throwing error moved Lovejoy to third. Bernard McKinney's sacrifice fly tied the game setting up Harrison's heroics in the 10th.
Antoine Ragland singled to open the extra frame. Bryan Evans sacrificed a bunt to move the runner into scoring position. Harrison took care of the rest, singling to right field.
Josh Swain relieved starter Kevin Collins, who gave up eight earned runs in 4.1 innings. Swain pitched the final 5.2 and got the win, equalling his record at 3-3 to finish the season. Swain gave up four runs on six hits.
The game was the final contest of the 2006 season, ending the Bulldogs' record at 8-28 overall and 3-21 in the SWAC. AAMU closed the season with consecutive wins for the first time since sweeping Morehouse in mid-March. It was also the second-straight season the Bulldogs closed the year with a series victory over Alabama State.
