Alabama A&M hit just two of its first 17 shots and never recovered from a slow start as Grambling scored a 63-52 victory Tuesday in the SWAC opener for both teams. For the game, AAMU shot 33.9 percent, but the Tigers held a 50-29 advantage on the glass. Jonathan Belt led the team with 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Evan Hilton added 11 points. None of the A&M starters reached double figures in scoring. Mickell Gladness did block seven more shots.
Grambling staked itself to an early 18-6 lead, and the Bulldogs never got any closer than within eight points.
