Drummond's Double-double Keeps A&M Rolling

Alabama A&M scored the first 12 points of the game Monday and cruised to a 56-40 victory over Southern at Elmore Gym. The Bulldogs dominated in nearly every aspect of the game as the defense held the Jaguars to 34 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers. AAMU outrebounded Southern 42-29. Felicia Drummond's double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds led Alabama A&M, which moved to 11-7 overall and 7-0 in the conference.

Tamika Green led the Bulldogs with 16 points and also grabbed eight rebounds.  She added four assists and four steals.  Christian Malone had 12 points and a game-high five assists.

As a team, the Bulldogs pounded the offensive glass.  Twenty of their 42 team rebounds were on the offensive end.

Krystal Huggins and Fredrieka Lewis combined for 26 of Southern's 40 points.  Huggins had 14 and Lewis 12.  Aerica Hicks had a game-high five steals.

Southern fell to 2-14 overall and 2-6 in the SWAC.

Alabama A&M travels Saturday to Texas Southern.
