Bulldogs Scare Away Hornets in Halloween Sweep

Medinah Abdullah hit .458 and led Alabama A&M with 12 kills Wednesday to move the Bulldogs past arch rival Alabama State in a Halloween 3-0 sweep at Elmore Gymnasium. The win for A&M sets up a first-place battle for the top seed in the SWAC Tournament when Mississippi Valley State pays a visit in the regular season finale.

Alabama A&M scored 30-24, 30-22, 30-28 game victories.

Natalie Rodriguez dished out 39 assists and scored a kill on each of her seven attempts.  Eleven of those assists went to Brittani Lewis kills, while Shondrell Clarke and Shanorah Smith had four and three service aces, respectively.  The Bulldogs had 11 aces as a team.

Shajuana Pina led ASU with 14 kills. Aleesha Woodruff had 32 assists.

The win pushes A&M's overall record to 11-7 and 6-1 in the SWAC.  Alabama State falls to 4-23 and 2-5.
