In the final regular season battle for first place in the SWAC Eastern Division, Alabama A&M came up short Monday night, falling to Mississippi Valley State in four games.
The Bulldogs posted a win in the first game 30-16, but fell 30-26, 30-22, 30-28 in the last three matches. The loss dropped A&M to 11-8 overall and 6-2 in the Eastern Division. MVSU went to 16-16, 6-1 in the division, and have secured the top seed in next week's SWAC Volleyball Tournament.
The loss was a disappointing end to outstanding careers for seniors Devona Williams and Shondrell Clarke, who were honored prior to their last home game.
