A&M Narrowly Misses Knocking Off Crimson Tide

Tuscaloosa, Ala. - Alabama A&M had a chance Monday to record its first-ever victory over Alabama, but narrowly missed as the Crimson Tide held on for a 62-57 victory at Coleman Coliseum. Trailing by just three points with 30 seconds remaining in the game, Ashleonte' Samuel's layup fell off the rim and put the Bulldogs in foul mode to finish the game. The Tide made four straight free throws to ice the game.

Felicia Drummond led A&M with 13 points and six rebounds. Samuel and Brittany Manning were also in double figures scoring 10 points each.

Alabama A&M's defense forced 25 Crimson Tide turnovers, but UA outrebounded the Bulldogs 53-26, including 24 offensive rebounds.

A&M built an early 8-4 lead, but trailed most of the contest.  Bama led by as many as 11 points with just over 15 minutes to play before the Bulldogs stormed back to have a chance at the end.

The loss leaves Alabama A&M 1-4 on the season heading to South Carolina on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
