Lady Bulldogs Fall in Nashville

Feb. 12, 2007

The Lady Bulldogs left Nashville, Tenn., having repeated some of the same things from the visit last year. Both Charlene Tsangamwe and Batsirai Bvunzawabaya finished their matches in straight sets, Shaniek Pinder and Monique Jones both went to a third set in their matches, and the Lady Bulldogs lost at 5 and 6 singles. The difference this year is that the Lady Bulldogs came up on the short end of a 6-1 final score.

The Lady Bisons, playing their fourth match of the year, captured the doubles point by winning at #2 and #3. The team of Bvunzawabaya and Tsangamwe was able to get an 8-5 win at #1. Jones and Pinder fell 5-8 at #2 and newcomers Alison Gladness and Brittany Jelks lost 1-8 at #3.

In singles, the Lady Bisons looked as if they were a seasoned team, limiting the Lady Bulldogs to one singles win.

Tsangamwe was never able to get on track in her 6-2, 6-2 loss at #1. Pinder started slow but finally got on track and pulled out a 3-6, 7-5, 11-9 win at #2.

At #3 singles, Bvunzawabaya started getting things together, but it was a little too late as she lost 6-0, 7-5.

Jones started strong but wasn't able to hang on and fell 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 at #4 singles.

Freshmen Brittany Jelks and Djuana Grant fell at #5 and #6, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively.
