Final Stats
Baton Rouge, La. -
Alabama A&M's hopes of rallying to reach the conference tournament died Monday night as LaNorris Smith's three-point attempt at the buzzer hit the back iron and Southern escaped with a 62-60 win. The Bulldogs, now 2-12 in the SWAC can best finish tied for eighth place, but would lose a tie-breaker for the final seed in the tournament. Trant Simpson scored a career-high 23 points, and Mickell Gladness narrowly missed a triple-double with eight points, 12 rebounds, and a school-record tying nine blocked shots. It was the fifth time this season he has blocked nine shots in a game.
