Warm temperatures and clear skies greeted the Alabama A&M softball team for its home opening doubleheader Wednesday vs. Tennessee State. The Bulldogs mounted rallies in both games, but fell short in each as the Tigers swept the twinbill, 4-3 and 7-4.

Tennessee State scored four runs in the top of the first inning in game one and held on for the victory.  Alabama A&M rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth and had the tying and winning runs in scoring position when the game ended in the seventh.

Re'Quincia Mack started the sixth inning rally with a walk and scored on Angelia Heard's single.  Keyonna Nash singled home two more runs, but Alice Young struck out to end the inning.

Mack tripled with two outs in the seventh and Jamie Williams drew a walk as a pinch hitter.  Patricia Betts reentered for Williams on the bases and stole second before Debra Borcherding struck out to end the game.

Borcherding gave up four runs on seven hits in a complete game loss.

The Tigers scored three runs in each the sixth and seventh innings to pull away in game two.  AAMU rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not enough to capture the first win of the season.

Krissy Miles took the loss after giving up just one earned run in 5.2 innings.
